Perilous Vacation #13

Everyone was sure the maiden voyage of the ship was ruined when the bathroom facilities gave out, but the local Big's family came to the rescue!

Heidelberg Dress

I visited The Detroit Historical Museum over the weekend, and I saw the coolest found object dress there. It's from the Heidelberg Project in Detroit. There were a couple Barbie heads on the back shoulders, but I couldn't get a good picture of them.

The Heidleberg project is "an open-air art environment in the heart of an urban community on Detroit’s East Side. Tyree Guyton, founder and artistic director, uses everyday, discarded objects to create a two block area full of color, symbolism, and intrigue. Now in its 23rd year, the Heidelberg Project is recognized around the world as a demonstration of the power of creativity to transform lives."

Always About The Bust

I noticed in some vintage magazine advertisements that women were just as worried about their bust size back then as they are now.

I made this collage with clippings from vintage magazines, various stickers and two contact paper transfers

Doodle Inchies

I've been playing with my new black pens and marker paper, and I really like the marker paper. The lines are a lot crisper and there isn't any bleeding from the pens. Dick Blick to rescue once again! I drew a bunch of these inchies the other day, and these are the best six!

Zentangle Hearts

I've been meaning to work on my zentangles again, so I decided to draw some zentangle hearts with Valentine's Day coming up. I used cookie cutters as a stencil for the outlines.

SnowFlake Girl

I doodled this girl at work one day. I saw a woman in the lunchroom with this hair cut and the rest of the doodle girl came from there.

Perilous Vacations #11

Sandy had read in the tour brochure that you needed to bring snacks with you, but she had thought that was for her own purposes later!

Cupcake Collage

Cupcake Collage
Originally uploaded by Migraine Chick
I made this cupcake collage by using home furnishings clippings from a magazine, such as curtains, dishes, towels, etc. It took me a while to get the strawberry right on top and the swirls on the frosting as well.

Shopping Trip to Dick Blick

I got to go to Dick Blick yesterday for a shopping trip with my Christmas gift card present from a dear friend. I love that store from the moment you walk in. It has its own wonderful smell, like a bookstore does, and the staff are always nice. The first things I found were some super cute animals erasers. Their legs even move.

I also bought some new black pens including two Pitt artist pens, a Pigma Brush and Tombow artist pen. Then I went to look for bleed proof marker paper. In the glue aisle, I picked up some Scotch Wrinkle Free Glue Sticks.

On the way out, I snapped this picture of their front window. Their Christmas window display is so cute!
