Real Cat Thoughts

I've been working on a little cat cartoon of my own. It's supposed to be about the real thoughts of cats.

My Cat and The Geishas

I'm not sure why, but my cat really took a liking to my geisha ATC project. First off, he abducted one of my vintage geisha photograph cut outs when I was first starting the project. I found what was left of her by his food bowl. Then when I decided to draw them, he had to lay all over my work on my desk. Here is proof! I think he is getting ready to sink his claws into that poor geisha's head!

Kokeshi Dolls

I drew a set of Kokeshi Dolls with Sharpies and then printed them on card stock. For the backgrounds, I used some origami papers that I thought looked like scenery. I originally intended to use vintage photos of geishas, but I think these drawings turned out cuter.

Wreck This Journal-Ugly Drawing Page

I drew this zombie using an online tutorial and then I turned him into a contact paper transfer. I think zombies are ugly as a rule and the drawing of him is pretty ugly, too.

Then I needed something else ugly to go with him, and the page prompt said to use "poo." So that's where the zombie poop idea came from. I'm not sure if zombies actually poop, but this is what one would look like if they do.

Miss Boo Boo Skull

I'm really getting obsessed with this Kawaii thing, but I've always been hung up on cute little animal type stuff. I initially doodled Miss Boo Boo skull to be another type of migraine mascot, but then she turned out to cover all sorts of pain. I like how she is cute and yet sad at the same time.

Wreck This Journal-Fruit Stickers

I drew the fruit with a Sharpie and then used colored pencils to color them in. I really like this Kawaii stuff!

Butterfly Girl

I've been working on this butterfly girl collage for a couple weeks now. It feels like it needs something more, but I just can't put my finger on it. What do you think?

Wreck This Journal-Office Supplies

For my Wreck This Journal page "Cover This Page Using Only Office Supplies," I decided to try something different than just loading the page with office stuff. I don't have a lot of supplies at home, so I used some paper hole reinforcements and colored them with a pink sharpie to make my poodle.

Kawaii Migraineeko

I've been somewhat obsessed with Kawaii characters lately and I've been trying to draw and doodle them. I came up with my own little character for a migraine mascot. Her name is Migraineeko. Her hat represents her migraine and I didn't want her to look too happy about it.

I've been trying to figure out which color hat is best for her. I think I'm leaning toward the blue one.

Life is Never Simple

I started out with the intentions of making a new background paper for future collages, but I couldn't leave the darn thing alone and I ended up finishing it with a contact paper transfer for the girl.

For the background, I used ephemera, postage, acrylic paint, graphite, charcoal, rub ons, and a couple of my new rubber stamps, including the Guadalupe one.

Wreck This Journal-Two More Pages

For the "draw with hair" page in Wreck This Journal, I used my hair for the center of the flowers, and for the butterfly I used small hair clippings on glue for the butterfly's body. I found a vintage embroidery pattern for the "sew this page." Embroidering a circle was a lot harder than I thought.

The Haunting of Beatrice

"Beatrice knew that whenever she saw the butterflies, the ghost of her mother, a dethroned princess who became a seamstress, was soon to visit her."

This collage took me a while to finish. It started off as a black and white collage, but it just didn't seem finished to me. Then I decided to make the whole collage a contact paper transfer which I placed over decorative paper with some paper butterflies trapped inside. The whole thing came out rather Gothic looking so I wrote the mini ghost story to go with it.

Paper Arts Festival

I went to the RUBBER STAMP & PAPER ARTS FESTIVAL in Novi yesterday. I have never seen so many rubber stamps in my life. I think 90% of the show was dedicated to rubber stamping and card making. They even had demonstrations and spots where you could make your own projects. I was glad to see there were a couple booths with collage fodder, vintage pictures and elements for mixed media.

I bought three rubber stamps, distress ink in antique linen, a paper scraps packet of origami paper, a pack of vintage playing cards, a 7gypsies ephemera pack and a 1960's high school pack from Found in Ann Arbor. Also, I bought a package of 100blank matte ATC cards. Those should come in handy!
