ZenDoodle Skull

I made this using a skull contact transfer and I drew the rest with a zendoodle.

The Bad Housewives

I made these art tags with 1950's inspired decorative paper that I got from Ebay, along with some home images from vintage women's magazines along with some women images from a vintage sewing magazine. I tried to imagine what a bad housewife did in this era. I think my favorite one is the malt ball one.

Paisley Pratice

I worked on doodling some paisleys yesterday. I was using my new IDenti pen Dual. I love how the pen has two tips, wide and narrow, on opposite ends. I think my paisleys turned out a little amoeba like.

My First Moleskine

Over the weekend, I bought my first Moleskine notebooks. I kept hearing about them on Flickr and on artist's blogs, but I was avoiding them because I thought they might be made from moles, and being a vegetarian, I didn't think it would be the right thing to own. Then finally, I figured out they are not made from moles.

I had a 40% off coupon from Borders so I decided to buy some this weekend. They are a quite cool notebook. Also, I picked up some Pocky sticks in the manga section in the store. I haven't tried them either, but I fell in love with the little cow on the front.

Even The Pretty Things

When Alice had a migraine, she found even the pretty things were too much to bear.

Autumn Geisha

I made the background on Photoshop in black and white, and then I made the large geisha from a contact paper transfer where I tried using origami paper for the first time for the colored areas. The rest of the collage is a piece of map, a playing card and the berry paper was sent to me by a sweet online friend. The leaves are stickers.

ZenDoodle Haiku

I tried adding one of my haiku to a zendoodle. I'm not sure if the text gets lost in the design or not. What do you think?

Her Visual Life

"She used to live in her words in her head, but now she lives in her mind's eye."

I made this collage by doodling on a french text page and then painting over it with white acrylic paint. Then I made the transfer with contact paper and a found magazine image and I added the paper butterflies on top of that.

Adventures at Dick Blick

I don't know why it took me so long to figure out there was a Dick Blick store in my area. It wasn't until I ordered online some Sakura pens for doodling, and I checked out their website listed on the packaging. Then I followed the retail store locator link from their website. Duh!

Anyway, I visited the store on Saturday and it is awesome. I have never seen so many colored pencils and pens in my entire life. I was totally overwhelmed. I didn't even know where to start. There was a woman in front of the pens next to me and she was trying every single color of Pigma Micron on a journal page. She ended up buying around $200.00 of art supplies.

I totally felt like a spaz next to her picking out my slim handful of black pens and some gelly rolls, but I had to start somewhere. I also found some great handmade collage paper and some Origami paper. Plus they had an $30.00 art book about painting on sale for $8.00, so I grabbed that too!

Little Bird Twinchies

I was looking for a profile of a little bird online, but I couldn't find what I wanted, so I ended up drawing it myself. I don't think it turned out too bad. I painted the birds with my acyclic paints and I made a sheet of background paper on Photoshop which I cut up into 2 inch squares. I don't know why I'm so hung up on bird images lately.

Zentangle Hearts

I've been trying to teach myself to doodle with Zentangles recently. I love it because it's easy to do at work at lunch, and I find it helps with distracting migraine pain, too. I think these hearts are my best ones so far.

Here are some links about Zentangle.

King Kitty

I started making this collage with the intent to make a silly, comic type one about my cat with wings, turning him into a cat fairy, but then it actually turned out quite nice. I had to print him in black and white because I don't have a color printer yet, but I like the way the orange wings contrast against him.

Cats Like To Watch Birds

Collage that I made from cardstock and decorative papers. I got the idea from my kitty watching the robins outside.

Migrainelupe Shrine

Here is my latest version of Migrainelupe. I tried to make a shrine for her. I used acrylic paint on her background and some gold glitter glue on her dress details. Then I used white acrylic paint over some butterfly stickers to make them looked more distressed. For the bricks around the shrine, I used some more vintage buttons, but this time I glued them down instead of stitching them on.

It seems that Migrainelupe is just not for migraines either. The lovely girls at Happily Ever Divorced are using one of her images for their website.

origami paper silhouette

I made this collage with origami paper and a silhouette of a woman cut from a fashion magazine. I was trying to show her heart and her thoughts with the red paper, like "she tried to use her heart and her head when it came to love" or something like that.
